Empty Your Plate is a continuous film project exploring the unique relationship between food, dance, and meaningful connection.

Over a comforting meal, a group of acquaintances sit down and try to get to know each other better. They talk about everything - from what they had for breakfast, to their hopes and dreams for the future. Silence is welcomed just as much as conversation at the table. There is only one rule - to be candid.

As time pasts, the food dwindles and music fades in. They yearn for a form of communication beyond the limits of vocal language.

Just as they ate, they dance.
energetically
    patiently
          lethargically
at times raw
at times refined

wordlessly, delving deeper into the identities of one another.

I work on the unceded sacred lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. This land is and always will be Aboriginal land - sovereignty was never ceded. Pay the rent.
