M_N

Carmen Yih in collaboration with Giuliano ‘Gino’ Hammal aka 24 and Kihmo Quintela.
Bowery Theatre 16 - 17 February 2024

M_N is a new street dance-theatre and community outreach project dissecting the relationship between masculinity and mental health. M_N tackles how rigid socio-cultural notions of masculinity stigmatise male emotional vulnerability, exacerbating the national youth mental health crisis. The project draws from the lived experiences of emerging street dancers, Giuliano ‘Gino’ Hammal and Kihmo Quintela, who, as diverse young men from Melbourne’s West discovered a means of authentic self-expression within the city's street dance circles.

I work on the unceded sacred lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. This land is and always will be Aboriginal land - sovereignty was never ceded. Pay the rent.
